Re-opening our benefice

To keep everyone who comes to worship with us safe during this time we provide the following information in line with guidance from the government and the Church of England.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Anyone can attend the service so long as they are not displaying any symptoms of COVID-19 (a new continuous cough, high temperature, or a loss of, or change in, their normal sense of taste or smell) due to the risk they might pose to others; they should self-isolate at home immediately with other members of their household according to the government guidance.

Those over 70 or who have been classified as being of high-risk to COVID-19 should carefully consider whether or not to attend a service of public worship. Please read the guidance below to see what we are putting in place to keep you safe and then decide if you wish to join us. We will continue to provide online resources and services so please do not feel under any pressure or obligation to attend.

DO I NEED TO BOOK?

You will not need to book to reserve a place at any of our services. However, there is a limit to the number of people that each church building (or churchyard if the service is held outside) can hold and still maintain a safe distance of 2m between each household. Ensure you turn up early so you can be a part of the service!

Your details will also be taken upon arrival for NHS Track and Trace purposes. This information will only be used to support the NHS Track and Trace and will be destroyed after 21 days.

WILL I NEED A FACE MASK?

Face-masks are required to be worn by anyone attending any of our services unless you have a medical reason which prevents you from doing so.

ENTERING THE CHURCH

Doors and gateways to the churches and their grounds will be open before the service to reduce the areas where people could contract COVID-19. Please leave them open.

WHAT ABOUT SOCIAL DISTANCING?

Please could you keep at least 2m apart from anyone who is not within your household or your support bubble (if you have one) at all times during the service. The only exception to this will be to receive Holy Communion and you will be given further guidance about that during the service.

This will mean that you will be directed to your seat upon entering the building or churchyard.

WILL WE NEED HAND SANITISER?

Hand sanitiser will be provided as you enter the church building or churchyard and we encourage you to use it. You will also be asked to use hand sanitiser before receiving Holy Communion. If you would like to bring your own then please do.

WILL THERE BE HYMNS?

Unfortunately, the Church of England guidance does not permit congregational singing. However, we will be providing alternatives to sung hymns including listening to recordings or songs, spoken word, and silent reflection.

CAN WE STAY AND CHAT AFTER THE SERVICE?

We ask that all attending leave promptly at the conclusion of the service to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19.

We will not be providing any refreshments after the service.
