Shared Supper (Maundy Thursday 6th April)

An important part of many of our church services is Holy Communion when we recall the Last Supper, which Jesus had with his disciples. We are holding this Shared Supper meal in Wookey Church Hall (6-7pm) to remember the Last Supper, but also to enjoy the companionship of sharing a meal together.

There'll be meal of stew and bread, with a choice between meat stew and a vegetarian

stew. Please register online, via our Events page if you would like to attend so that we

can get the catering right. You can register up to 4 people at once.

There is no charge for the meal, but donations are welcome to cover church costs.

Tenebrae (Maundy Thursday 6h April)

Tenebrae is a chance to focus on the loss felt by Jesus' followers caused by his betrayal by Judas, his death on the cross and his burial in a tomb.

This service is being held at St Matthew's Wookey after a very well-received service last year. You don't need to have gone to the Shared Supper before this service to come along. If you are attending the Shared Supper and would like to attend the Tenebrae service, we make our way to the Church once the meal is over at 7pm.

During this service we reflect on the different shadows cast by the betrayal, suffering and

death of Jesus, and this is symbolised by 13 candles. One by one each of these candles

are extinguished leaving the church in darkness. This service reminds us that Jesus' suffered

these shadows so that we might be restored to God and have eternal life.

An Hour around the Cross (Good Friday 7th April)

On Good Friday we remember the crucifixion of Jesus.

At Christ Church Coxley join for an hour with prayers and readings as we sit around the

cross. People who have attended this event in previous years have found it a thoughtful

and reflective event, giving them time to contemplate the cost of Jesus' love for each of us.

Easter Sunday (Sunday 9th April)

The greatest part of Easter is now here! Now we get to celebrate the miraculous resurrection of Jesus. His body was stored in the tomb after his death. But when his followers go to visit his body they find that it has gone, and an angel gives them the glorious news that he has risen from death!

Join us on this day of celebration at our family friendly services. There'll be craft activities for children, and there'll also be an Easter egg hunt, with the collected eggs being shared out between everybody. There'll also be Holy Communion at the three church services, which has a special significance on this special Easter Sunday.

Also on this Sunday, there's the opportunity to watch the sunrise from Henley Hill in Wookey, at the Dawn Service.
