What's On at the Moment in CHW Churches?

Inspire (Informal Service)

On the second Sunday of every month, St Matthew's Wookey is home to 'Inspire'  - a more modern and informal service.

This is a service for all ages, with craft activities for children to enjoy. The more relaxed nature of the service makes it perfect if you're new to church, as there's less 'rules' and an relaxed atmosphere. Plus there's tea and coffee after the service.

There's wonderful music, usually  featuring piano and guitar, rather than the organ. The songs are easy to pick up, and the words are shown on the projector screen at the front of the church.

We hope to welcome you to Inspire! And inspire you in your faith journey.

Cornerstone
(Informal Service)

On the third Sunday of every month, Christ Church Coxley is home to 'Cornerstone' - a more modern and informal service.

The name 'Cornerstone' comes from the idea that Jesus is the cornerstone on which our faith and lives are built.

This is a service for all ages, with craft activities for children to enjoy. The more relaxed nature of the service makes it perfect if you're new to church, as there's less 'rules' and an relaxed atmosphere. Plus there's tea and coffee after the service.

There's wonderful music, usually  featuring piano, rather than the organ. The songs are easy to pick up, and the words are shown on the projector screen at the front of the church.

We hope to welcome you to Cornerstone!

Our Current Discussion Group

For five weeks starting on Wednesday 9th March or Thursday 10th March, we'll be using Jonathan Meyer's wonderful book 'Another Story Must Begin' to unpack the spiritual themes within Les Miserables.

There are two discussion groups made up of people from across the benefice. The Wednesday Group meet in a private home in the evening, while the Thursday afternoon group meets at 2:30pm at Christ Church Coxley. You are welcome to attend either group.

Midweek Services

There are opportunities at start of every week to attend a prayer service or a short Holy Communion service.

We know that for some people there is a lot going on at the weekend, and it might not be possible to attend church on Sundays. For other people the week seems long, and they want something spiritual to focus on during the week. So the midweek services allow people from across the benefice to join together for Morning Prayer or Holy Communion.

The Morning Prayer services are informal and are a great opportunity to pray for the world, the Church and individuals known to us. There are Bible passages read aloud too. Everyone is welcome to attend even if you don't live in the village, and these services usually last 30-45 minutes.

The Holy Communion service is a short service without singing. The words are all printed in the service booklet, so it's easy to tell where you are in the service and what parts are for everyone to say aloud. The service includes prayers and a Bible reading. It's usually 45 minutes long, sometimes with the people heading onto The Hub for a hot drink and a chance for a chat.

We look forward to seeing you at a midweek service!

Coxley Community Cafe

Every Thursday (2:30-4pm) there is a Community Cafe held at Christ Church Coxley, either outside of the church in the sun and fresh air, or inside if it's colder or wet.

This is for all of the community of Coxley to enjoy, and also for the communities across the benefice.

It's a chance to have a hot drink and a good chat in an relaxed setting. So whether you're meeting up with friends, or looking forward to chatting with someone new, you are very welcome to come along any time between 2:30pm and 4pm.

We look forward to seeing you there!
